Pastor Barry Writes
New Blood, New Covenant
This is holy week, the week leading up to the event that changed the world. On the night before Jesus was crucified, he and his disciples gathered for the Passover supper.
This Friday, Jewish people commemorate Passover, the night when God set them free from slavery. In the Passover meal, four cups of wine are raised:
The first is the cup of blessing. The host says: “Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who gives us the fruit of the vine.” Then the cup is passed.
Second is the cup of judgment. The host tells the history of God saving the Jewish people and judgment of God on Pharaoh. Then the host breaks bread and dips it in bitter herbs, speaking of the bitter bondage of the past; and the second cup is passed.
After the meal, the cup of redemption is raised. And it was this third cup that Jesus raised on the fateful night before he died; he said, “This is the cup of my blood, a new covenant.”
Then comes the cup of praise. The Jewish people have done this for thousands of years.
But on that night before his death, Jesus Christ brought a new meaning to this meal. No longer did the Passover speak of temporary freedom, but the permanent freedom from sin through his blood and body.
Christ rose on Easter morning and gave us all new life as children of God. This Sunday, Christ is risen! Join us for our Good Friday Service at BPC at 7:00 p.m., our annual Easter Sunrise Service at Beemerville Cemetery at 6:00 a.m., and our Easter Sunday Service at 9:00 a.m. as well.
God loves you, and I love you!
(Thanks to Skip Heitzig for help with this message.)

Church Growth Team
We are Inviting Church Growth: New prayer cards. “Faith and Life” discussion times. Children’s Sunday School. A “What’s Happening” white board in the Narthex. Reaching out to members who’ve stopped worshiping. These are some of the ideas our Church Growth Team is implementing. We’re looking forward to more ideas that we hope will bring more worshipers to know our very special Beemerville Church family. How can we be more visible in our community? Tell Pastor Barry. Share your ideas, and invite your family and friends to worship!
Sunday School
Children ages 3-10 are welcome to join our monthly Sunday School! It will be held on the first Sunday of each month during worship, through June.

Worship News
We will continue to have online worship also for those who cannot join us in person.
We ask that you tell Pastor Barry or our Deacons about anyone feeling especially isolated and in need of support. This is a time when the church (all of us) can do a great deal of good by helping each other and staying connected. We are here for just such a time as this.
Please keep joining us to worship on Sundays at 9 a.m. on Facebook Live or on Youtube.com/beemervillepresbyterian on Sunday afternoon if you are not coming back to church in person. We are also emailing the bulletin with our weekly newsletter so you can follow the service.
COVID Update
The CDC recommends that people may choose to mask at any time indoors or in large crowds. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
Our Presbytery’s recommendations are the same as CDC. Beemerville Presbyterian Church does not require masks, but we ask that you continue to act in a safe and prudent manner for all of our church family. Please encourage and support all vaccination efforts! The way out of the pandemic is to create an environment where the virus cannot find a host or adapt.
2022 Calendars Are Here!!
Please don’t forget to pick up your 2022 calendar in the Narthex or Fellowship Hall. Take extras for family or friends! Each year, Pinkel Funeral Home donates them to us. Thank you, Horvath family!
“These Days” Devotions – New Issue
We have devotional booklets for daily use called These Days. They are highly recommended. We receive them four times a year. Please let Pastor Barry or the church office know if you would like a copy, and we’ll send it to you!
Newsletter Information
If you would like to submit information for the weekly newsletter, please have it in to the church office by the Sunday before the Wednesday it goes out. In case of last-minute items, please submit them by Wednesday morning. Thank you!
Deacons’ Sunday
The Board of Deacons would like to thank everyone who donated to their Deacons’ Fund last Sunday! The first Sunday of every month has been designated Deacons’ Sunday. Please contribute. Donations may be placed either in the offering basket or in the basket on the table in the narthex.
Dear Deacons:
Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers you gave me for Easter! I love hyacinths! Your thoughtfulness is very much appreciated!
Happy Easter, Sharon
Tithing
We thank you for continuing to send in your tithes and donations! Our church family and friends have stepped up and supported the church. For that we are truly thankful! Checks should be made payable to Beemerville Presbyterian Church, with Weekly Offering on the memo line. These can be sent by mail to our Treasurer, Ruth Bootsma, 67 Decker Road, Sussex, NJ 07461. Most checking accounts also have a “bill pay” option that you can set up so your bank sends the church your donation.
2022 Per Capita
The Per Capita per member for 2022 is $40.00. This is used to support the vital ministries of the larger church. Our church has to pay this amount for each member. We are asking you to repay the church to cover your share. Please send your Per Capita offering to our Church Treasurer. Please put Per Capita 2022 on the memo line. Thank you!
